Welcome to DongMakGol DVD (2005 Korean Movie) (Sale)

Welcome to DongMakGol DVD (2005 Korean Movie) The film offers an utopian place in which soldiers from the two Koreas and the United States are intertwined in a happy-go-lucky fashion during the Korean War. In November 1950, when the war was at its peak, the U.S. pilot named Smith crashes in Dongmakgol, a small village in the eastern part of the country. And Lee Su-hwa (Jung Jae-young) and other North Korean soldiers end up staying at the village, while Pyo Hyun-chul (Shin Ha-kyun) and another South Korean soldier broke away from the troops led by a villager and come to Dongmakgol. Since Dongmakgol is located in such a remote area, the villagers do not have any idea about the war that is ravaging the entire peninsula. What’s more, they “welcome” any stranger regardless of their nationality, which confuses both South and North Korean soldiers. And the story revolves around the changes that eventually engulf the soldiers of different identities. This fantasy movie about the Korean War is not only setting box office records for the year but also accomplishing the difficult task of reaching out to all age groups. The movie ‘Welcome to Dongmakgol’ drew about five million nationwide viewers in Korea, taking only four weeks to break this year’s record. And now it becomes an eye-catching movie of the world.
Customer Review: Beautiful
A friend recommended this movie to me and I’m glad I listened to her. I watched this with a friend who is unfamiliar with Korean culture and he enjoyed it as well. A smart dialogue accompanied with some truly beautiful panning shots of the mounatains and the fields added a tounch of sincerity and truthfulness to it, mirroring the nature of the village itself. Its a really good comedy burdened by the weight of reality.

At times, the visual effects arent 100% convincing but overall they’re pretty good. The american actor in the movie did a pretty bad job in my opinion but luckily he doesnt play a large role in the movie.

As a Korean and a soldier serving in Iraq, this movie really hit home for me. To see the struggles of soldiers and the issues they face framed in a different background was entertaining and a personal experience.

Just a wonderful film. Definitely worth watching.
Customer Review: (3.5 STARS) War and Peace, Reality and Fantasy: War Movie with a Difference
It is hard to tell you the exact nature of the film; it is basically a fantasy, but is also a war movie. Anyway the film is pretty impressive, though.

`Welcome to Dongmakgol’ is made in South Korea, where it became a huge hit in 2005. It was selected as the nation’s entry for Oscars, but in spite of the film’s better-than average quality it was not nominated. If you see the film, you will know why it was ignored by the voters of the Academy. (I will come back to the supposed reasons later.) Let me first say that `Welcome to Dongmakgol’ is a highly entertaining film for all its deep flaws.

The film begins with a close-up of a strange girl Yeo-il (played by Hye-jeong Kang, ‘Old Boy’) who is happily staring something falling from the sky. Actually she is watching a US fighter airplane which lands near the sleepy and peaceful village of Dongmakgol.

The story is in fact set in the 1950s, during the Korean War, and two groups of soldiers are seen heading for the same village Dongmakgol without knowing the presence of each other. When three soldiers of the North Korean army led by Chief Comrade Lee Su-Hwa (Jae-yeong Jeong) arrive at Dongmakgol after a bloody battle, they are surprised to find that there are not only two South Korean soldiers, 2nd Lt. Pyo (Ha-kyun Shin) and Army Medic Mun Sang-sang (Jae-kyeong Seo) but also an American pilot Smith (called Su-Misu, played by Steve Taschler).

Well I think you already know the rest of the story, which is pretty predictable. The soldiers of both sides confront one another at first, but the kind villagers and the life in the peaceful village gradually change their minds.

Something happens in the middle of the film, which I won’t disclose here. All I can say is that some characters of the film, especially the Westerns (or Americans to be precise), are depicted in a very negative light. True, the filmmakers did not forget to refer to the painful facts as to who started the war, or who killed the (South/North) Koreans, and they present this Smith as a very nice guy. However, it is also true that some Western soldiers are violent, trigger-happy (and bomb-happy too), extremely negative stereotypes, and their nagative traits are shown on the screen with truly stereotypical villain’s acting.

Though some scenes reflect the today’s political climate in this country, the film has lots of wonderful fantasy-like moments that would be universally appealing, accompanied by the beautifull music of Jo Hisaishi (known for his works in the films of Miyazaki and Kitano), and the friendship between the characters are really moving. The ending has a surreal beauty, which is surely touching, but like many other films from South Korea, the film is sometimes very nationalistic, alienating some of us from the content of the film. `Welcome to Dongmakgol’ is worth a look for the good acting from the Korean stars, and its unique visuals (see the funny slow-motion hunting sequence), but could be better with well-balanced descriptions of some characters.

Thunderstruck – The Movie on DVD (Sale)

Thunderstruck – The Movie on DVD Movie description The Australian comedy THUNDERSTRUCK is a story of male bonding through rock ‘n roll and a road trip across the Outback. Five buddies–Ronnie, Sonny, Sam, Ben, and Lloyd–all become friends because of their love of the hard rock band AC/DC. After a fun-filled night at one of the groups’ concerts, the guys narrowly miss a fatal accident, and become convinced their devotion to the band saved them. Many years later, they’ve grown apart, but each one remembers the pledge made that night: to bury the first one of them to die by the grave of AC/DC frontman Bon Scott. When Ronnie is killed by a freak lightning bolt, the four remaining friends must reunite to take his ashes across Australia to Scott’s gravesite, encountering a series of unusual characters along the way, and rediscovering the little things that had made them friends to begin with.
Customer Review: Ashes to Ashes
Though I’m Australian, I’m not really that much of a fan of Australian film, or AC/DC. Still, I like movies about rock music, so I had a look at “Thunderstruck”. It’s a little bit better than I expect, but I wasn’t really expecting that much.

The film is about five best mates from Sydney who love AC/DC and are in their own hard rock garage band. They go to a concert of theirs in 1991 and have a great time. While admiring a poster of Bon Scott, the late AC/DC member, the young guys avoid a run in with a car. They take it as a sign, take down the poster of Bon, and make a promise that if any of them does die, then the others would bury them next to Bon Scott in Fremantle, Western Australia. Twelve years later, their band and their friendship is all but broken up. One’s now a drug dealer, one works in a supermarket, one still lives with his parents recording demos, one used to be a bouncer, and one’s dead, hit by lighting. Yes, you could almost say he was “Thunderstruck”! The guys see this as a sign and remember their promise, reuniting, nabbing the ashes of their mate from his vain ex-wife and head across thousands of kilometres of outback towards Fremantle, to unite their dead friend with his hero. But will they make it?

As in many other Australian films, there are many cameo appearances from Australian celebrities. There’s rock group Killing Heidi (playing themselves), there’s Quentin Kenihan the wheelchair bound Australian director (who plays a paralympian with road rage), and there’s late night host Roy Slaven (who plays a petrol station owner). There may have been some others I didn’t recognize in there too.

One of the reasons I don’t like Australian film that much is the way everything looks like it was recorded ten years before it actually was. Everything looks so old in this film, which works for the bits set in 1991, but not so much for the modern day bits. I don’t know what it is, maybe the lighting or something, but a lot of the locations look all dingy and depressing (like the supermarket where one of the characters works). Australia doesn’t exactly look like that, and its not fun or enjoyable picturing a place that does. They give this look to so many Australian films, and it annoys me.

Still, the outback scenes were nicely filmed. The comedy was all right, too. There’s a lot of playing on the Australian “bogan” stereotype (kind of like the Australian equivalent of America’s “trailer trash”, folk who are really rough around the edges). The dialogue, like so often in Australian films/TV/etc seems a little too unnatural at times.

For fans of AC/DC, there are a few references to the band and their music, but not as many as you may expect. It’s not so much a film about AC/DC or its fans as it is about friendship, mateship and promises.

Special features include a commentary, deleted scenes and a making of featurette. Nothing out of the ordinary.

Worth at least a little look for AC/DC fans, I suppose. If you’re looking for an Australian comedy film, I’d recommend “The Castle” or “The Dish” instead. You get the Australian quirkiness, but you also get a meatier plot too.
Customer Review: Good for the AC/DC fan
I think maybe only an obsesive AC/DC fan will enjoy this flick. It was a little slow to start, but once it got going I really enjoyed it. The humor is more English, some people may not find it funny, but I laughed out loud for most of it. I definalty recomend it, but you may want to consider renting it first before adding it to your collection.

StarCraft Widescreen DVD Movie Special Limited Edition (Sale)

StarCraft Widescreen DVD Movie Special Limited Edition Customer Review: Starcraft Widescreen DVD Movie Special Limited Edition
DVD left something to be desired.
DVD arrived in a very timely fashion.
DVD arrived in excellent condition.
Customer Review: Cool
A nice DVD for any starcraft fan who enjoys Blizzard’s creative cinematucs. This includes all the cinematic cut scenes from starcraft and brood war except it is missing one from starcraft. There is one cut scene that shows Kerrigan sleeping inside her crysalis as she is being infested. It was only a few seconds long but I do not think it is on this DVD. Other than that, the video is high quality and it is a nice addition to any collection.

Customer Review: Sexual Secrets Review
This collection comes on ONE DVD and has an irritating intro that you cannot skip each time the DVD is viewed. It is a marginal to poor DVD unless you are a beginner in the area of sexuality.
Customer Review: THE BEST EROTIC COLLECTION EVER
This video is actually a collection of six titles sold separately by the Alexander Institute, which contains over six hours of footage from six different females, who take you on their own sexual journeys through swinging, fantasy, instruction, private moments, etc. Only two of the female participants are recognizable porn stars (at least for us) and even they are toned-down and less explicit than you’d expect in a mainstream porn title. Most of the actors are pretty plain and ordinary looking, which added a nice touch of amateurism to the whole thing. Actually, almost all of the scenes are one-on-one sex, with a few girl/girl and girl/guy/guy scenes sprinkled throughout. It’s all filmed softly and lovingly, without any of the exploitive elements of a good majority of today’s adult films. If you’re looking to try an adult film for the first time or introduce your partner to adult films, this is probably the best one you’ll find anywhere.

Though we liked ALL of the segments and were turned on continually (there’s not ONE section we made it all the way through without ripping into each other), our favorite two were definitely the Chona and Charlie scenes. First, both ladies are amazingly beautiful; second, they are with attractive mates in every scene. Chona, who’s Asian, doesn’t go further than girl play and masturbation, but Charlie and a very good-looking man team up for GREAT sex scenes in a workout room, on top of a washing machine, in the shower, and even a dual masturbation adventure. This chapter even delves into female ejaculation and an interracial 3-way fantasy in a hot tub (with different participants). I must say, just the Charlie scenes beat almost every porn movie we’ve seen.
